Edo government has ordered the arrest of Oshiomhole over this (Read Details)

Edo Government has disclosed that it has given an order to the Police operatives and Department of Security Service (DSS) to arrest the National Chairman of 'All Progressives Congress' (APC), Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly violating the rally orders.

It was reported that Mr. Philip Shuaibu, who was the Deputy Governor of Edo state, has disclosed in Abuja on Monday while speaking with Newsmen after the meeting of the APC Governors Forum Steering Committee on Good Governance.

Mr Shuaibu expressed Edo government’s readiness to submit its petition to the Inspector General of Police (IG) Mohammed Adamu and the Director of DSS, Mr Yusuf Binchi on the rally.

Mr Shuaibu was said: I am in Abuja to meet with the IG and the Director of DSS over a petition to the effect that Mr Oshiomhole to be arrested by the police and DSS operatives for the breakdown of law and order, that he has consistently perpetrated in Edo state.

However, we banned rallies and the IG also stipulated it in a letter that rallies has suspended but Oshiomhole disobeyed the orders of the state government. He disobeyed the orders of the IG because he feels that he is above the law. And we have officially come now to drop our petition with the IG, to the effect that Oshiomhole is not above the law so he should be arrested for violating the state government’s order.

He said that nobody violated Oshiomhole’s orders when he was a governor.

“So, for us, when Oshiomhole continually disobeys the law, when opposition party chairmen do same, he becomes a reference point,” he said.

However, this is what brought me here on behalf of the state government to submit a petition to the IG for the immediate effect of Oshiomhole arrests and he should be  prosecuted for breaching the peace of Edo.

It was also added that when contacted with the Chief Press Secretary to Oshiomhole, Mr Simon Ebegbulem, however, declined comments.
