Our children marriage crash has nothing to do with our friendship - Obasanjo


The former president of the Federation President Olusegun Obasanjo, has spoken on the crashed marriage of his son Olajuwon and the daughter of Chief Kesington Adebutu, a prominent philanthropist, has got nothing to affect the duo friendship.

Obasanjo break his silence on Saturday in Abeokuta, two years after the marriage crashed.

He said " one thing you never said about him and I wonder why the citation left that out, you know not too long ago my son and your daughter on their own decoded to get married but what happened to their marriage is between them not between us".

Obasanjo made this statement during the conferment of first honorary member on Adebutu as the 45th president's party of Abeokuta Sports Club.

The children of the duo prominent Nigerian got married 2017 which the marriage later crashed almost a year later.

Obasanjo who manned the conferment on behalf of the club on Adebutu, said their children crashed marriage shouldn't result to crashed friendship with Adebutu.

While speaking about Adebutu, Obasanjo said" the honoree of today has rendered marvelous services to Egbaland. The Park Inn, which is the old Gateway Hotel, would have still remained in derelict if not for the services commitment of the honoree".

The president of the club, Tokunbo Odebunmi while giving account on the philanthropical act of Adebutu said he didn't need to be introduced because he has a great contributions to the economy status of the state

He said" Adebutu is a man that needs no introduction judging by his immense contributions to the economic development of Egbaland and mankind in general and this honour is our own humble way of appreciating his numerous contributions in Egbaland".

In his remarks, Adebutu appreciated the club for the honour and promised to keep the good work going.

He however called for governments support to the club on its project which he described as essential to the development of the state.
