JAMB has suspended the use of NIN in 2020 UTME, DE registration (Read Details)

JAMB has suspended the use of the National Identification Number (NIN), as part of the requirement for this year registration of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

It was further reported that the suspension also affected the Direct Entry registration for the year 2020.

The decision was disclosed at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isha-q Oloyede.

The conference was in attendance of top management staff of the National Identification Management Commission, which was led by Director-General, Aziz Aliyu.

JAMB registrar who witness the ongoing difficulties being faced by many candidates in the NIN registration centers, however, added that the use of NIN requirement as a precondition for the UTME and Direct-entry registrations had been canceled for this year registrations. Mr. Oloyede further added that the use of NIN would be the necessary requirement in 2021 UTME and Direct Entry registrations.

Naija442 had earlier reported the difficulties faced by candidates in NIN registration including alleged extortion by  National Identity Management Commission officials.

The JAMB spokesman, Dr Benjamin Fabian had informed our correspondent that examination malpractices syndicates were behind the hitches at the NIN registration centers.
