Imo defectors will lose their seats, claims by PDP chieftain (Read Details)

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Ben Ozirim, has disclosed that lawmakers who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo House of Assembly, would lose their seats.

It was reported that Mr. Ozirim, who was the former PDP Publicity Secretary in Imo state, disclosed this in interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Owerri.

He however, disclosed that eight PDP lawmakers, including the Speaker, Mr Collins Chiji, defected to APC on Tuesday.

He however, added saying that the seats being occupied by the defected lawmakers 'APC' belongs to PDP, not individuals.

Mr. Ozirim further added saying PDP must move to reclaim its seats, in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

He explained that a lawmaker could only defect to another party if there was a division or crisis in the party.

“There is no division or crisis in PDP; we will approach the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to declare their seats vacant,” he said.
